2017: a year in review

It’s a new year and as the Culy family looks back to the start of the year 2017, we are so thankful for the things God has taught us and is still teaching us as a family. We are encouraged in our walks and how God has brought us closer together as parents in the tough times and the times where God gave us peace when we most needed it. We look forward to our new family member this year of 2018.
Last January, God gave us a church.
We are so thankful for the timing of finding this church. We were praying for about a year about it and God was kind in answering. We have have been so encouraged by the members of the church and the ways it reaches out to the community. They have a lot of compassion for pro-life ministries and for overseas missions. We are encouraged by the serious way they handle God’s word and the importance they put on prayer and training the body.
Mom's Group
Right after the first service, the pastor’s wife invited me to mom’s group. After going for the first time I was deeply spiritually refreshed and renewed. I was uplifted and eager to go again. Hearing the room filled with sweet hymns as they started off singing before going into the bible study was beautiful. These women were not just here simply for a fun gathering but for a purpose in seeking and glorifying their Creator. I am very thankful for these mature godly women that God has blessed me with and has put in my life.
Bible Study
Calvin and I are so blessed and thankful for our bible study. We have met every Thursday now for the past 4 years. It has been truly rewarding and it has brought our group closer to God and to each other. We have been blessed with our friendships there and the ways they have been supportive. We were encouraged to have our friend make our sons 1st Birthday cake and seeing family and friends come out for that to celebrate.
into the summer
We were able to see God’s provision this past year in a huge way. Calvin’s bonus starting in March 2017, selling our car within a week of prayer, being able to watch our friend’s daughter, Leighton, whom I took care of for a month in the summer. God provided for our needs so that we could pay off medical bills and begin saving for baby number 2 on the way – which we found out in June! In the midst of the hardship of loosing my job in May, God was there taking care of our needs at the right time. We are so thankful too that Calvin was able to complete big projects over the summer redoing the back deck and shed (under the deck), clearing out the yard, and putting up a beautiful back white fence to make the yard safe for the kids to run around. We also had the opportunity after all the hard work to go on a family trip, we haven’t done in a long time, to Cannon Beach this past fall. It was a great time to rest and to watch our son Wayland play in the sand and to explore the beach for the first time.
We are looking forward to the start of the New Year 2018, and are thankful for all the ways that God has been teaching us and also giving us an appreciation as we teach our son Wayland to love the Lord and to desire to please Him in all things.
